Temple symbolism in Thailand

The Pheonix or the FireBird is representative of the Sun and sits on the apex of all Thai temples. The firebird consumes anything it comes in contact with into flames of golden sunlight. The trim of Thai temples represent the process of killing the dragons with the light from the sun through the Pheonix and Firebird, and what will emerge is a new entity, a renewed mind.

At the entrance to every temple in Thailand there are dragons. Literally speaking, you first have to get past the dragons to enter the temple. Metaphorically, you have to slay the dragons in your mind and the  physical temple is a metaphor for the mental temple within you. The temple that is your mind.

The dragons represent the beast, the lower mind. The dragons are your thoughts about money, jealousy, anger, fear, greed and the like that will enter your brain when you start to meditate. For some people the stars these dragons are such terrible bad memories that they scare people off from ever attempting to meditate or enter the temple. Such thoughts might be memories of being molested or abused as a child. But rest of shored if you have the courage to enter into meditation and face these fears head-on you will be able to kill and they will never bother you again. And you Will never fear those thoughts again because you will know how to defeat them.

One you get past the dragons you are confronted by two scary soldiers, one at each side of the temple door. These guy represent the battle you are facing, your army of the higher mind, the mind that seeks the temple, pitted against the lower mind that is trying to keep you out of the temple. This lower mind like the dragons represent thoughts about sex, money, your health, anything that is earthly and preoccupying. This battle is the same one that David was going to fight against Goliath. An army was arrayed against Davids and Goliath stepped forth as the army's fighting representative. The lower mind. And David was the representative of the higher mind. Taking 5 smooth stones David slew Goliath and was awarded the King's daughter, representing the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Later I will explain the meaning of the 5 smooth stones as they hold the key to winning entrance into the kingdom of heaven.
